Put out by the Better Youth Organization in Los Angeles, this album features the music of eight L.A. bands each doing 1 to 3 tracks and it's a pretty good collection of music, on the average very well produced. Since there are 18 songs on the album I'll just give a quick run down of the more noteworthy items. Best band award (in my eyes) goes to Agression for "Intense energy", Rat Race" and especially "Dear John Letter" (my favorite song at the moment). The lead singer has a great voice, just wish I could understand what he was saying in the chorus of "Dear John Letter". Next the the Adolescents for "Who is Who", and catchy song with good leads. The battalion of Saints contribute 3 good, fast thrash song although the production is a bit messy. Last special mention goes to the Joneses but not because they're any good. Their first song "Pill Box sound just the the Rolling Stones (blech), real poppy and the lead singer's got a very annoying voice. Their other cut, "Graveyard Rock" sounds like Teenage Head and is also very poppy although his voice is less annoying. The other bands on the album are Youth Brigade, Bad Religion, Blades and Social distortion and each of them are pretty good too. So, except for the Joneses, the album is great and I strongly recommend it.
